Henry M. JacksonHigh School dancers selected to perform in Holiday Bowl activities
Bowl Games of America is pleased to announce the selection of this outstanding dance team as featured performers in the
December 2008 Pacific Life Holiday Bowl Halftime Show and nationally televised Big Bay Balloon Parade in San Diego, CA.
The Holiday Bowl Halftime Show is traditionally known as one of the most extravagant and highly publicized shows of all the
NCAA bowl games. The dancers from Henry M. Jackson were selected to join with other dance groups from across the
country to combine in one of this year's biggest halftime extravaganzas. The groups were selected based upon outstanding
performance, geography, and the strength of community support.
The dancers will assemble together with other performers in San Diego for three days of intense rehearsal with choreographer
Cris Judd. They will end their year on a high note by performing in front of 160,000 spectators between the game and the
parade. They will also enjoy a party held in their honor at Sea World.
This is not the first time that the H.M. Jackson High dancers have been recognized for their skills. Under the leadership of
Tracy Theriault, the team has an impressive history of accomplishments including taking first place at the district level and
going on to the state dance competition to earn Fourth place in 2006-07.
This school year the team has competed locally in six competitions with other high schools and earned numerous trophies.
"They placed again at the district level this year and qualified and performed very well at state," according to Theriault, who
adds, "I am very proud of this team and have never seen a group of girls more dedicated or work harder!" It is no surprise that
the H.M. Jackson dance team is becoming recognized nationally for their superior dance and performance abilities. The team
is very excited to perform for such a large audience. It will mean many extra practices and lots and lots of fund raising but we
are very inspired to go and want to have the opportunity to represent H.M. JacksonHigh Schoolat the Holiday Bowl!
