Cascade and H.M. Jackson high school students take photography awards
In the 2008 Snohomish Arts Council annual Black and
White Photography contest, the work of Cascade and H.M.
Jackson students earned more than one third of the
awards. In addition, Jordan DeGaetano, a Cascade junior
took the Grand Prize award for his entry 21
st
Century
Madonna. Of the 16 other awards granted in the contest's
two categories, six went to students in grades 10, 11 or 12
from Cascade or H.M. Jackson.
Cascade art teacher Yvonne Linnabary was naturally
pleased with the judges'decisions. Needless to say I am
thrilled that one of our students won Best of Show. This is
the second time our program has been honored with that
award. In 2005, we also took Best of Show, plus first,
second and third place awards. It is an embarrassment of
riches, and my treasures are my students. They are
amazing.
