Everett High cheer team qualifies for nationals
During the December 2007 Regional competition, Everett High School cheerleaders placed first and second in the all-girl stunt
division and first in the coed stunt division. The individual performances of team members was so impressive that each
qualified to compete in the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Individual Stunt Nationals held each year at Disney
World. As cheer advisor Rachelle Whitfield explains, the qualification does not require personal appearances in Florida.
Instead each team member is sending qualifying videos to be judged.
"Such are the wonders of today's technology," said principal Catherine Matthews. "It is great that our team will be seen and
judged by the nation's top cheerleading experts. We know right here that they are the greatest team, and we are so proud that
individually they will be recognized for their talents and the time they put into perfect spirit routines for our school."
Results of the individual video competition are expected by Feb. 8, 2008. "This is a huge accomplishment for the team; we
can't wait to bring even more pride and honor to EHS with a national cheer title," said Whitfield. "I couldn't be more proud to
    coach such a dedicated team!"
