Become a mentor at Gateway Middle School
If you would like to make a difference in a student's life and have an extra 30 to 45 minutes every other week, then
GatewayMiddle Schoolhas an opportunity for you.
Gateway's counseling department launched the schools adult mentor program in 2005. It has been so successful, that
counselors are again seeking good adult role models to work with students. Mentorvolunteers spend less than an hour every
two weeks with an individual student — providing that student with motivation and a point of accountability for school work.
Mentors might check up on students'grades, review classroom performance, or help students set learning goals in classes.
Some students don't have consistent access to adults who value education and who take an interest in school work and
learning, says principal Cathy Woods. The mentor program at Gateway is an opportunity for caring adults to make a difference
    in the lives students.
If you are interested in participating in this meaningful role for a student at GatewayMiddle School, please contact Connie
Sperry at 425-385-6622 or e-mail csperry@everettsd.org for more information.
