State association honors Everett Public Schools' Peter Hendrickson
Dr. Peter Hendrickson, curriculum specialist for curriculum and assessment in Everett Public Schools, has received theArt
Maser Service Award by the Washington Educational Research Association (WERA) for demonstrated and exemplified
outstanding service to WERA for making a significant contribution to the field of educational research.
In his letter of nomination Ric Williams, director of curriculum and assessment said, "Peter has spent his life contributing to the
education of students in Washington state, nationally, and globally. His life is exemplified by his advocacy, leadership,
innovation, scholarship and research. He is one of the finest citizens of our world that we have been privileged to meet and his
contributions are numerous."
"Peter mentors fellow data users, and provides clear guidance with patience and humility to those unfamiliar with the language
of statistics that are necessary in the data realm," Williams continues.
Hendrickson began his career teaching students in Ecuador and Japan after several years as a print and electronic journalist.
As a school principal in Ohio and curriculum and assessment administrator in Alaska and Washington, he is a leader in his
professional organizations and regularly contributes to professional journals. Hendrickson edits
The Standard Deviation
newsletter and educational journal. He will retire in June after 37 years in education.
