Phase one of superintendent search will end Friday, Nov. 7
At their meeting on Tuesday evening, School Board President Karen Madsen extended another invitation for the community to
help develop the profile of Everett Public Schools'next superintendent.
"This is the time when we encourage the public to step full force into the process," Madsen emphasized. "We have held more
than a dozen public sessions and already received almost 600 responses to our online survey. Those opportunities close on
Friday when we gather the input to begin the next phase of the superintendent search."
At a special meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 12, board members will use the information gleaned from the public sessions, the
survey, the e-mail and phone messages to begin writing advertising and application materials to recruit and screen applicants
for the superintendent position.
By the end of November, the board hopes to have the position publicized on professional and organizational Web sites around
the country. "Our goal is to close advertising in early January, interview in late January and possibly into February, then to
name a new superintendent possibly as early as March with that person beginning work on July 1, 2009."
"Everything we do from Nov. 7 on will be based upon what the community has told us up to that point. Therefore, it is critical
that our parents, staff, community and business partners take advantage of the online survey, leave us an e-mail message or
telephone message no later than noon on Friday, Nov. 7."
