Everett Public Schools reminds parents to prepare for weather conditions
The district will use its telephone messaging system and e-mail alerts to notify parents if school must be delayed or cancelled.
Families will begin getting recorded messages between 5:45 and 6:00 a.m. on school days if school is delayed or cancelled.
The district will also continue to use its Web site and media networks to contact families.
"Weather forecasts for this weekend and into next week have the district preparing for such schedule disruptions," said Interim
Superintendent Karst Brandsma. "This is a good time for families to refresh their own emergency plans and for us to remind
them how to find out if school schedules are changed during emergencies of any kind."
Brandsma also urged parents to make sure their contact information is up to date. "We send phone messages and e -mail
notices using the numbers and e-mail addresses parents give us during registration or when parents update their information.
If a phone number or e-mail address has changed, please call your school with that new information so we can reach you."
Brandsma also emphasized, "If there is no announcement about school delay or cancellation, that means your school will be
on its regular, normal schedule. Unless the circumstances are highly unusual, we will use our notification systems to announce
school closures or delays — not to confirm that school is open."
