Qwest Awards two Everett PTAs $1,000
Gateway Middle School and Jackson Elementary School Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) are two of the 20 Washington
PTAs to receive $1,000 grants from Qwest Communications International Inc. for securing the highest levels of parent
participation in Qwest's Online Safety Certification program. The program educates parents about the latest online safety
trends and tips to keep kids safer online.
"Qwest is thrilled to see so many families learn about online safety," said Paula Kruger, Qwest executive vice president of
mass markets, who oversees Qwest's online safety efforts. "In partnership with the Washington PTA, the attorney general's
office and others, we will continue to educate families about child online safety and develop new resources that will keep our
young people safer online."
More than 90 Washington schools participated in Qwest's online safety school challenge. Twenty received grant awards.
Jackson Elementary PTA will use the funds to provide a family fun night in the fall. Gateway has not decided how the funds will
be used.
Our sincere thanks to Qwest for their outstanding efforts in making Internet safety a priority for our students, said the Gateway
Middle School PTA.
