EHS Community:
I hope you are enjoying the fall sunshine. A couple of time
sensitive items came across my desk late Friday that I
wanted to pass on to you:
?
The UW Honors Program is holding some informational
events and the deadline to RSVP is Monday. I am sorry
about the late notice but I just received an email
yesterday.
?
For students interested in construction careers, the
annual Construction Carnival is coming up. There are
only 10 seats left on the bus. The first ten students to
turn in their permission slips will be able to go.
Have a great weekend!
Catherine

Construction Carnival – October 22:
There are 10 spots on the field trip bus for students who are
seriously interested in exploring many construction industry
options and Apprenticeship Programs. Students should stop
by the Career Center (A107) to pick up a field trip form.
“Agenda: ride a boom lift, talk to journeymen, bend a
tool tray out of sheet metal, find a local training program
that’s right for you, eat lunch, then work off those
calories while framing a house.”
Flyer attached.
Meet an Author at the Everett Public Library:
Mary Lou Sanelli will speak about her book Among Friends: a
memoir at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 17, at the Everett
Public Library, Main Library Auditorium, 2702 Hoyt Ave.,
Everett. Known to local listeners from regular appearances on
KSER-FM radio, Mary Lou also writes and performs. Mary Lou
Sanelli will focus her multi-faceted talent on a presentation of
her newest book: Among Friends: a memoir
. Described as
“one woman’s tale of expectations, disappointments, regrets

and discoveries while searching for friends-for-life,” the book
has attracted quite a following, partly due to Sanelli’s abilities
and renown, and partly to its inherent raw yet tender
honesty. Sanelli works as a writer and performer. Her recent
collection of essays, Falling Awake
, and her latest collection of
poetry, Small Talk
, are also in bookstores now. She
contributes to The Seattle Times
, and to Crosscut, and is a
regular columnist for City Living
and Art Access magazines.
She is heard periodically on NPR and monthly on KSER-FM &
KONP-AM. As a dancer, Sanelli performed with Spectrum
Dance Theater. Her dynamic stage presence stresses
performance as strongly as literature. Her readings engage an
audience with poignant insights and gentle self-effacing
humor. Critics have called her work "... highly readable and
entertaining" and "... jaw-droppingly honest." She performs
her staged reading of her book, “The Immigrant's Table,”
throughout the country.
