      22nd Annual Art Shows


       

      High School Art Show

       


      All Everett Public Schools high school students are invited to participate in the Annual Everett Public Schools Art Show. Art will be displayed for public viewing from April 6 – April 24, 2020. All participating students, their family members and friends are invited to the High School Art Show Reception on April 15, 2020, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Community Resource Center (3900 Broadway).

       





      Entry Instructions and Due Date:

      All student entry forms and art works are due to the Community Resource Center on March 20, 2020. Most students coordinate with their art teacher(s) to select their best entries for the show. To enter art work for the show, students must:

      · Limit their entries to two art works per student, regardless of the number of art courses the students are taking

      · Download the entry form to your desktop. Once you have completed it, print a copy. Then send in the entry form by clicking the Submit Form button at the top right-hand corner of the form. Attach the printed, signed copy of the entry form to the back of your art work with removable tape, such as masking tape. (If unable to send submit form, please attach two copies of signed form to back of piece.)

      · Submit the art work matted or without a mat. Framed art work cannot be accepted due to size and weight restrictions

      · Prepare the art work to hang or for display before submitting the art work

       





      Categories and Levels:

      Entries into the Everett Public Schools will be judged based on the following categories:

      · Ceramics/Pottery Three-dimensional works of art that are solely created out of clay and may be glazed.

      · Digital Arts & Design

      · Drawing and Charcoal A piece that represents an image with lines and shades, often with pencil, pen or charcoal. May include printmaking.

      · Glass Art A piece of art constructed from glass, including stained, fused and etched glass pieces.

      · Graphic Arts & Design

      · Mixed Media A piece that is created using two or more media from different categories such as ink and pastel, painting and collage, and some book-art pieces.





      · Media Arts

      · Painting and Pastel A piece that represents an image with color, often with paint or pastel. Photography Film or digital photographs, digitally-collaged photographs, digitally-manipulated photographs.





      · Printmaking

      · Sculpture Three-dimensional works of art that are carved, modeled, constructed, cast or assembled. 3-D pieces using mixed media are also included in this category.

       

      Each category will also have three levels:

      · Beginning students are enrolled in their first semester of art

      · Intermediate students are enrolled in their 2nd or 3rd semester of art

      · Advanced students are enrolled in their 4th or more semester of art

      22nd Annual Art Shows


       

      Awards:

      · All artists in the show will receive a certificate of participation. Awards will be given for Best in Show and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category and level, and these awards will be presented at the reception.

      · Superintendent’s Purchase Award: The Superintendent will choose one art work from the High School Art Show to receive the Superintendent’s Award. At the end of the Art Show, this piece will be purchased for permanent display at the Everett Public Schools Community Resource Center. All entries will be considered for this award, regardless of category or level.

       





      Sale of Art Work:

      Students will have the option of selling their art work while it is on display. Students and parents/guardians will be informed about any interested buyers. It will be the responsibility of the students and parents/guardians to contact the buyer regarding the sale of their piece. Students and parents/guardians will also be responsible for delivering the art work after it is returned to them from the show.
