Tier 1



Behavioral

·  

Cougar Pride behavior expectations are defined, taught, reviewed and universally implemented
· Expected behaviors are recognized using the Cougar Pride Card system
· Behavior errors are addressed positively and proactively, using the behavior decision flowchart
· Communication with families about Cougar Pride is frequent



Academic

·  

Study skills, organizational strategies, and technology skills are taught
· Instruction is differentiated
· Engaging learning activities are taught
· Clear learning targets, success criteria, and learning progression are utilized for student understanding and self- monitoring



Social/Emotional

·  

Second Step curriculum is taught K-5
· Panorama data is used to inform
· School-wide PBIS committee meets regularly, using data to inform strategies
· Bullying prevention is implemented
· Teachers utilize social-emotional classroom strategies for all students
· Leadership skills are taught K-5

Behavior interventions, 1-1 with students, reinforce expected behavior and engage students in problem- solving and goal setting
· Expected behaviors are recognized using the Cougar Pride Card system
· Behavior errors are corrected progressively, using the behavior flowchart
· Communication with families about student behavior is frequent



Academic

·  

Academic plans are created with students, teachers, and counselors
· Classroom interventions occur during and/or before/after school
· Progress monitoring to inform students and parents is ongoing
· Communication with family about academics is frequent

 



Social/Emotional

·  

Consistent counselor check-ins occur
· Social/emotional groups specific to students’ needs are implemented
· Connections are made to available resources in and out of school
· Teachers target social-emotional strategies for students in need

· Student Intervention Team meets to determine next steps
· Progress monitoring to inform students and parents is ongoing
· Communication with family about academics is ongoing

Daily or weekly counselor check ins occur
· Outside agencies are consulted
· Student Intervention Team or Admin Team meets to determine and implement an individual social- emotional plan for students in need
