    Good Morning Trustees

As you know Gail Buquicchio will be leaving us soon. In her time in Everett she has been a big part of the Benefit Trusts work and had an impact throughout our district.   Molly and I talked briefly after the last trust meeting about some sort of recognition for Gail before she leaves. We followed up yesterday with a brainstorming session around what this recognition might look like.     We know what she values most is her relationships and connections with people.

We would like to propose that as Trustees we create an opportunity to send off for Gail off with our well wishes.   We would have a theme something like “Growing a Healthier Everett Public Schools ”. We would-

1.Provide an opportunity for any interested staff to write a personal note to Gail. We would compile all of these personal notes into a notebook. We were thinking cutting out red and green apples to use as “note cards. ”   This would not only be reflective of the Apple Award won under her leadership but also her commitment to helping each us be healthier.   We would send the apples out to administrators/office manager/Wellness Teams at each district site to provide an opportunity for employees to write the note and return.

2.Host an informal Sorbet and Cookies in Gail’s honor at the CRC on Friday, June 12 from 2-3.   A drop in for anyone whose schedule allows to stop by and give a personal message. We would also do something at the beginning of the Trust meeting later that day.

    3. Provide a small gift of appreciation from the Trust for Gail commitment to our district.   Often this might look like a plaque but we wanted to float the idea of doing a Gift Certificate for Swanson ’s nursery so she could pick out a plant to have in her yard to remind her of what she grew in Everett.

Before moving forward, I wanted to check in with everyone to see if there were other ideas or this seemed like the direction we should go.

1.Are you OK with the recognition plan?

    2. Are you comfortable with purchasing a gift certificate (in lieu of a plaque) for $50 from Swanson ’s Nursery

Thanks in advance. I know this is a very busy time of the year.

    Kelly
