    Hi all,

I know that some communications have been sent to members…since I saw a copy of a letter Molly received. In checking with UHC, they provided the update below so I thought I would share. Hopefully, as is usually the case (though not always) in a situation like this, they come to a deal before the current deal runs out…

We don’t have much of an update at this time. We are both actively working together to come to a mutually beneficial solution.

We want them to stay with us and we know they do, too. However, it comes down to finances. We want to make sure we are spending our client’s money efficiently and we’re not disadvantaged vs other plans.

We’ll be in touch as updates occur.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Hi all,

I wanted to make you aware of this situation. UHC reached out to us to let us know they are in active negotiations with Evergreen Healthcare. The current contract with Evergreen Hospital is scheduled to terminate on 12/31/15. They are in negotiations to try and keep them in network, but the two sides are far enough apart at this point that UHC has decided to make members aware of a potential termination. Obviously, this has potential impact to your employees and their families and we and UHC wanted you to be aware so you don’t get surprised with employee questions. Letters were sent out this morning, so members should receive them next week. Attached is a copy of the letter for your reference. Members will receive this if they obtained services at Evergreen Health Medical Center in the last 12 months. It is possible that they will receive an additional letter if they obtained services through an Evergreen physician or ancillary group as well.

You may have been through this before in the past, it’s not uncommon for these negotiations to reach a bit of a stalemate, with the carrier deciding to inform members. Many times (but not 100% of the time), once that happens, things move along and a deal gets done in time. But we certainly appreciate that this could create additional work/noise for you at a really busy time.

Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to discuss. We’ll keep you abreast of the progress, and hope that the two sides are able to reach an agreement soon.

    Thanks,
    Sean
