7. ACTION ITEMS
a. Consent Agenda 1) Personnel Report (ATTACHMENT); 2) Voucher Lists (ATTACHMENT); 3) Revision to 2007-2008 Professional & Technical Salary Schedule (ATTACH.); 4) Approval of Mitigation Agreement Between Everett School District and Greenfield Park LLC (SEPA #06-037) (ATTACHMENT); and 5) Contract Between Everett School District & Lakewood School District for the 2007-2008 OSPI Drug Omnibus Grant for Drug & Alcohol Interventionist Services (ATTACHMENT). b. Increase to Pupil Transportation Contract The Administration recommends the Board of Directors approve an increase of $134,000 to the pupil transportation contract. On June 6, 2006, the Board approved a new five-year contract with Durham School Services to provide pupil transportation. During the 2006-2007 school year, Durham experienced significant difficulties in attracting and retaining drivers. Surrounding districts faced similar challenges given the overall economy in Snohomish County. In order to rectify this situation, Durham granted a pay increase to its drivers. Article 20 of the approved contract provides that the parties may renegotiate an adjustment to the contract price in order to, among other things, recognize increases in labor costs. Durham has requested an increase of $134,000 for the 2007-2008 school year. This request has been evaluated by District staff which concluded the request is fair and reasonable. Staff further concluded it is in the best interests of the District that Durham increases its wage rate in order to attract and retain the number of qualified drivers needed to adequately meet the District’s pupil transportation service needs. |
