Planning for Success
: Schools will choose format for intentional orientation. Intentional
orientation is ”training” for parents/students or both on how to be
successful in middle school. It may include trainings on: On-line grades,
attendance procedures, using a planner, planning for Homework, involving
yourself as a parent, etc.

October:

Grade Career Ed. Survey:
Administer with or prior to first lesson. Have students total their results.
You can simply have students raise their hands with the highest number of “
;yes’s” or “no’s” to collect your data.
- Learning Styles Lesson
: There are several ways to present this lesson, depending upon your access to
technical resources and preferences. These options are included in the lesson
plan.

IMS Orientation
: Optional, for students who don’t receive IMS orientation in classes.
November:

All About You Portfolio Lesson
: Bridges
Schedule one period in the computer lab. Refer to lesson for log-on
instructions.

Career Explorer Game
: (Supplemental/Optional) Pre-ordered booklets by each school. May be
presented in January. Distribute to each student. Explain to students that
this is an activity to help them explore Career possibilities based on their
interests and skills.
Have students keep their booklets with their results in their career
files.

Understanding Your GPA Lesson
: This lesson may be delivered by your math department. Teacher directions and
lesson plan included.
