Exploring Career Options-Bridges Interest Survey
7th grade

ASCA Standards: C:A2 Develop Employment Readiness, C:B1 Acquire Career Information, C:B2 Identify Career Goals
Purpose:
Students will take a short interest survey. The result is a list of 20+ careers that “fit” the student’s skills and interests. From this career list (or using a self generated career list) students can explore careers using BRIDGES.
Materials needed:
Access to computers for each student or part of the class
Exploring Career Options worksheet
Printed copy and overhead of Interest survey

Directions for EXPLORING CAREER OPTIONS-Bridges Interest Survey
2. Site ID: (Your counselor will provide this)
3. Password: (Your counselor will provide this)
4. Click on “WORK” at the top of the page
5. Click on Career Finder—a quick quiz/survey
(answer honestly, check with a neighbor if not sure of a vocabulary word)
6. Once you have your 20 “Career Suggestions”
Choose 3 that are of most interest to you.
Use the worksheet, “Exploring Career Options” to record your research.
7. Place worksheet in your classroom MSLP file (we will use this again).

Exploring Career Options
Using the list of Careers generated by your interest survey OR using Titles of jobs that you are interested in explore at least 2 careers and find out what you would do if you worked in that career. Note if you use the list generated by your interest survey make sure you click on “More about…..” after you click on the career title. If you want to find a career from a list go to “WORK” and look for your career in the Alphabetical list of careers.
