    Q & A

My certification is up in June, what do I do?

    · Once you enrolled in this course you qualify to request an extension. Go to the OSPI - Below is from Western’s Program FAQs

Candidates have five years, from the time they complete two consecutive years of certificated employment and accept a contract for a third year with a public school or state-approved private school, to earn the Professional Certificate. Candidates who have not completed these requirements and hold a Residency Certificate with an expiration date should apply to OSPI for a reissued Residency Certificate. Click Here to access this no-cost application.

Still wondering how the other 9 criteria will fit into the portfolio?

    · This will be discussed further at the end of the course since CORE focuses on evidence within the portfolio. Advanced Track candidates will cover this more in December-January discussions and Masters candidates will be prompted as well. Knowing the criteria well will hopefully clarify what types of evidence you’ll include and how you will need to reflect on each criteria related to those pieces of evidence.

Did you say there are a lot of pre-approved masters programs?

    · Sheila Fox at Western Washington University Sheila.Fox@wwu.edu can help you more regarding the approval of masters programs. She is directly responsible for making such decisions.

I need the paperwork from last time since I wasn’t here?

    · Aside from the glitch in the November’s updating, agendas are online and handouts are linked to the agenda. You should always be able to retrieve materials that way.
