    a.   Report—History & Development of Everett Public Schools Strategic Plan

    The Administration will present for the Board’s information the history and development of the Strategic Plan in Everett Public Schools (ATTACHMENT). The Strategic Plan was first formally adopted by the Board of Directors in January 1991. The plan was reviewed after ten years (Fall, 2001) and a new ten-year plan was adopted by the Board of Directors in January 2002. The Strategic Plan consists of three objectives. Each objective has several strategies and each strategy has specific actions. These strategic actions are approved annually by the Board and form the basis of the administrative work plan for the year. The Strategic Plan for the 2007-2008 school year was adopted by the Board of Directors on August 14, 2007.

     
    1. K-5 Literacy Adoption: Phonics, Spelling & Handwriting— first reading

    The attached materials are provided to the Board of Directors for first reading, with adoption to be recommended at a future Board meeting (ATTACHMENT). The Administration will describe the process undertaken for the review of curriculum materials for K-2 Phonics and Spelling, Grades 3-5 Spelling and K-5 Handwriting, and will describe the curriculum materials being recommended for adoption.

     
    1. Proposed Policy 3409—Students with Diabetes—( defining provisions for Individual Health Care Plans for students)— first reading

    The attached proposed policy 3409—Students with Diabetes, is provided to the Board of Directors for first reading, with approval to be recommended at a future Board meeting (ATTACHMENT). The proposed policy defines the provisions for Individual Health Care Plans for students.

     
    1. Financial Report

    Financial reports as of February 29, 2008 are provided for the Board of Directors’ review (ATTACHMENT). The reports include year-to-date information on revenues and expenditures, General Fund projections, a cash report and an investment summary.
