High – Medium-Low Chart Revision Notes

    ********

    General notes:

Look for judgments you may have written (typically negative). Reword to be statements of observation.

No copping out with “nothing”. I challenge you to find something.

Column: Data and information (If circled, you need to add by next class.)

Data examples: WASL scores, DRA scores, grades, observations, etc.

Info examples: demographic info, parent info, ELL, etc.

    Middle columns:

Complete areas that are brief or don’t follow descriptions below AND look for and address my notes written in these areas

Make clear separation between engagement and motivation.

Engages = football, music, creative stories

Motivates = love languages, praise, recognition, food, competition, getting attention

Remember that kids who are showing off are getting a need met. What is it?

    Instructional Implications:

Refers to: data, interests, motivation, and behavior.

Make the link between middle columns and instruction. Be sure you use the interests and motivation not just the misbehaviors to complete this section.. Can use bullets/shorthand to do this.

Be specific. So, if a kid is engaged by movies, what can you do in instruction to take advantage of that? Can you reference movies? Show movie clips in a particular unit? Use movie posters for something? Use examples in your work from movies? Ex. Movies – use clips w/lit circle intro
