Forest View Elementary wins architectural award
The Washington Chapter of the Council of Educational Facility Planners International (CEFPI), presented a Merit Award to the
Everett School District's Forest View Elementary School at its 2008 conference, held in Spokane, Wash.May 1 -3, 2008.
Dykeman Architects presented drawings and photographs showcasing the project, which was in competition with 22 other
projects submitted by 13 top level school design teams throughout the state. Forest View was among only three in the group to
earn Merit Awards.
Criteria for the award included matching the design to the needs of the educational program; innovative solutions,
environmentally sustainable design strategies; adaptability to changes in educational delivery; positive aesthetics and
materials used, and reinforcement of the surrounding community.
Superintendent Carol Whitehead said of the award, "Congratulations are in order for all who participated on this project, from
the design and construction teams to the school board and school district staff."
At the school's official dedication on May 8, Principal Brenda Fuglevand also spoke of the CEFPI award and said, "We have
only begun to gather the awards this school will earn for its design and construction, and we have many years ahead to
celebrate the awards and successes of students who will learn and grow in this incredible school."
The school was featured for embracing environmentaly friendly practices in the May 14, 2008
edition of
