Cascade High School Athletic Director honored
Doug Kloke, of CascadeHigh School, was awarded the
Athletic
Director's Service Award
at last week's Washington Secondary
School Athletic Administrators Association (WSSAAA)
conference. The annual service award recognizes ADs who
have made a significant contribution to school, league, regional
or state athletics in any one year. The award is designed to
recognize hard working ADs for doing outstanding work during
any given year and to do so long before retirement.
In his nomination of Kloke, Robert Polk, the district athletics
health/fitness and activities director said, "Doug has been
instrumental in building athletic programs that promote the
student-athlete and breed success for the students at Cascade
High School and before that at Vashon High School. He is a
model person who leads by example with grace and dignity. All
who work with Doug grow as individuals and become better in
the work they do."
Recently Kloke did extensive work on sportsmanship which
helped the Western High School Athletic Conference (WesCo)
form new policies to promote sportsmanship. WesCo's members
include western Washingtondistricts as far north as
OakHarborand south through Shoreline. Kloke was invited to
present his sportsmanship project at the 2007 WSSAAA
