      Dragon:

o   Smashes castle and burns Elizabeth’s clothes off

      Can take Prince Ronald away

He is a dragon and dragons are often destructive and aggressive

The dragon believes Elizabeth will not come after the prince because she has no clothes

Elizabeth had no clothes and the dragon must have thought she would be freighted.
      Opinion:

I agree with the dragon to assume that Elizabeth will come after the prince

      Evidence:

She looks like a meek princess in the picture

      Judgment:

No, it is not fair for the dragon to smash the castle and carry the prince away.

      Evidence:

The castle is not his he did not ask permission to carry the prince away.
      o   Carries Prince Ronald off

Elizabeth follows dragon to get prince back  He doesn’t believe that anyone can get the prince away from him He is able to breath fire, run fast
o   Burns a path back to his cave

Elizabeth can follow the trail of burnt tress and horses

He is a dragon and seems to breath fire often He believes he is not vulnerable, so it doesn’t matter if anyone can find his cave. They can’t do anything to him anyway. He is too powerful. He goes around doing terrible things like smashing castle, kidnapping people and burning forests as if no one can do anything about it. Opinion:

      I agree/disagree

      Evidence:

He should have controlled his fiery breath. Then Elizabeth could not have followed.

o   Breathes fire to burn down the forest and flys around the world twice

Can no longer breath fire or run

The dragon can’t resist showing off. He didn’t need to be such a show off to prove himself  Opinion:

I disagree with the dragons reasoning. It is not a good idea to show off.

      Evidence:

The princess already knows that the dragon is very powerful because she has seen his destruction of the castle, forest and horses.

      Princess:

o   Wears a paper bag and goes after the dragon to save the prince

Wearing a paper bag she can immediately run after the prince

She wanted to save the prince and marry him

She was engaged to the prince and he was carried away by a fire breathing dragon

      Opinion:

Yes, I agree with her reasoning to wear a paper bag to go after the prince.

      Evidence:

She wants to marry him and wearing a paper bag helped her go save him quickly

      Judgment:

      Yes, she was being fair.

      Evidence:

The dragon had taken the prince away against his will and it is important to protect the people that are special to you. It is logical to assume that the prince would want to be rescued.
o   Gets the dragon to use up all of his fire and tire himself out by flying around the world twice

The dragon is out of fire and too tired to fly She wants the dragon to be easy to run away from  The dragon did run out of fire and tire himself out Opinion:

      I agree/disagree

      I agree with Elizabeth’s reasoning

      Evidence:

The dragon was a bold aggressive individual. He was likely to show off for her

      Judgment:

      Yes it was fair

      Evidence:

The dragon deserves what he gets after being such a show off and smashing the castle and kidnapping the prince

o   Frees Prince Prince complains that the princess is not fit to rescue him Elizabeth wants to marry the prince and he was kidnapped by the dragon She believes the prince wants to be rescued immediately They were engaged and he was being held captive Opinion:

      I agree/disagree

      I agree with Elizabeth’s reasoning.

      Evidence:

He was carried away against his will to the cave of a dragon breathing dragon.
      Judgment:

Yes, it is fair to free the prince.

      Evidence:

The prince had been kidnapped. No one should have their freedom taken away without good reason.

o   Decides not to marry the Prince

      Stays single

The prince refused to be rescued because she was dirty not dressed properly even though she had gone through so much to rescue him.

      none

She did not want to marry some one who is so focused on himself. He could not see ho much she had done for him and that being dirty didn’t matter in such a situation.

      Opinion:

I agree with Elizabeth’s decision not to marry the Prince.

      Evidence:

He is too selfish. He did not appreciate how much she had done for him

      Judgment:

      Yes it is fair.

      Evidence:

Who she marries is her decision ad she wants someone who is intelligent, thoughtful and appreciates her.
      Ronald:

      o   Turns Elizabeth away

Elizabeth decides not to marry him

Elizabeth was dirty and not dressed like a princess

A person’s appearance is not very important when they are in mid rescue.
       Opinion:

      I disagree with the prince.

      Evidence:

He values her appearance more than what she was willing to do for him.

      Judgment:

It is not fair for the prince to reject Elizabeth.

      Evidence:

She only looked dirty because of all she done to rescue him and because the dragon had burned her clothes off.

Step 5: What is the most important conclusion that can be drawn from the selection?
Someone who is very important to you can be lost if you do not appreciate what truly makes them a special person.

Step 6: What would you do in a similar situation? Why?
I would have been very grateful that Elizabeth did so much for me. She could have avoided the dragon because he could have done her great harm, but she didn’t. She put in the energy and effort to find ways to out smart the dragon. I also would have understood why she was so dirty and offered to help her. After all she had done for me, it would have been the least I could do for her.
