Assignment Checklist

 


 

Students will create a One-point Perspective Drawing of a building using graphite and color pencil.

 

Students will create a view of the building showing the front and one side.

 

Students will include the following features in the building’s exterior to show diminishing size and space relationships:
· Two doors, one installed on the front and one on the side.
· Two or more equally spaced windows in a row on the front.
· Two or more equally spaced windows in a row on the side.
· Signs on the front and the side.
· At least three other exterior features of their choice (lighting, sidewalks, other signs, awnings, landscaping, parking lot, stairs, outdoor sitting area, etc.)
· Appropriate setting (i.e. rural, urban)
 


Through this assignment, students will demonstrate an understanding of spatial devices in perspective drawing by using:
· Accurate proportions, diminishing size and space relationships.
· Horizontal perspective lines that converge consistently toward a single vanishing point.
· Clearly marked horizon/ground lines.
· Three of the following techniques to show depth:
o Size variation
o Position
o Overlap
o Detail
o Value/shading
o Atmospheric perspective
 


 

The final size of this observational drawing is approximately 9x12.
