GOALS: The student will be able to identify the two major tests needed for college admission


The student will be able to identify how to register for the ACT and SAT

The student will be able to explain the differences between the ACT and SAT

The student will be able to explain what the PSAT is how it is beneficial as a study prep for the SAT

The student will be able to explain what High School and Beyond Night is

The student will be able to describe why it would be a good idea to participate in High School and Beyond

 

TIMELINE:       20 minutes

 

ESSENTIAL     What can/ should I be doing now to prepare for college?
QUESTIONS: What is the SAT and ACT test? Why should I take the PSAT?
What is High School and Beyond? Why should I go?
 


 

MATERIALS     Classroom with overhead and computer hookup
NEEDED:  
 


 

CLASSROOM     PowerPoint (20 minutes)-





ACTIVITY 1:    
· Go through slides, pay attention to notes at the bottom of slides
· Hand out flyers for the PSAT and High School and Beyond Event
· Hand out College Comparison Worksheet, encourage kids to bring this to High School and Beyond as means to ask questions of the college reps and write down answers
