3) | Take the placement test – our local community colleges use either the ASSET or the COMPASS. Both tests assess your English and math skills – these do not determine whether you get in to the college – they determine which math and English classes you qualify to take. DO YOUR BEST! Or you could end up in a class that is lower than your ability – not a good plan. |

Register for Classes – this is all done online now. Generally – registration for Fall starts in the middle of MAY. So make sure your application is in and you have taken the placement tests by May 1st so you can register early. |
7) | Buy your books – every college has a bookstore, but you can also find your textbooks online. Just make sure you are getting the correct edition of the textbook! |
