June 22, 2012 (NewsLinks articles are archived on Docushare <http://docushare.everett.k12.wa.us/docushare/dsweb/View/Collection-3396> )

    IN THIS ISSUE

    · We’re Proud – did you see staff members’ family accomplishments?

    · Thank you from the communications team – Mary, Diane and Bev

    · Wellness program well wishes – a healthy year!

    · News around the district – good work happening everywhere

    · Opportunities for staff and students – popular summer technology workshops available again!

    · Policy and procedure updates – always available online <http://docushare.everett.k12.wa.us/docushare/dsweb/View/Collection-189>

WE’RE PROUD … staff share family and personal accomplishments

Did you see this year’s issue of We're Proud <http://docushare.everett.k12.wa.us/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-39491/We_re%20Proud%202012.pdf> yet?

THANKS! … for taking the communications survey

    · 625 of you took time to tell us what you think of the district’s communications work.

    · 86% feel you get info you need in a timely fashion; 2% do not, and 12% are unsure.

    · You most want to hear about health insurance and benefits (78%), inservice and classes (70%), and opportunities for staff and students (67%). (Summer tech classes fall into the last two categories. See details <http://docushare.everett.k12.wa.us/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-39636/summercourses2012.pdf> .)

    · You’d like the info coming your way to be shorter. We’re working on that with a planned revamp of BoardNotes and a commitment to more Readers Digest condensation and links to more details if you want them.

    · Thanks too, for continuing to send your story ideas and news tips. We’ll continue publishing stories over the summer, so keep checking the web and your email.

WELLNESS – wins NATIONAL award and $1,000 grant

Only two other districts in the entire country have wellness programs of the quality we enjoy here. Read all about the national award <http://docushare.everett.k12.wa.us/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-39559/2012.06.20%20Wellness%20program%20award.pdf> just given to our wellness program.

Congratulations to all EPS staff who participated in our award winning wellness program this year! Our wellness program year end survey <http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22FQDXYDTR3> found that you were more physically active, ate healthier, stressed less, lowered your blood pressure and cholesterol, took fewer sick days, lost LOTS of weight, started veggie snack clubs (and Wellness Wednesdays), had healthier options at staff meetings and spent more time talking to your colleagues about making healthy lifestyle choices.

According to representatives from the Washington State Department of Health and OSPI we are a MODEL for other districts in our state. WE are changing the culture of Everett Public Schools and have the opportunity to inspire other districts in our state thanks to YOUR support and participation in our employee wellness program.

If you are looking for a summer fitness challenge, or want to learn how to cook healthy meals, lose weight or stress less this summer then click here for EPS Wellness Program Summer opportunities <http://www.everett.k12.wa.us/wellness/Summer%202012> .

May you be well…. and may your summer be rejuvenating and revitalizing.
