1. Job Shadows –
Smith will arrange with JP to job shadow the 3-4 potential AYES candidates asap.
2. Skills USA -
Smith and students have started a Skills USA chapter and elected a president, vice president, treasurer and secretary. Purpose of the program is to build leadership skills by having students attend competitions and managing shop resources. Smith reported 3 students attended SLCC skills competition and finished in about the middle of the pack.
3. Smith reported on new semester classes and numbers. Fender reports that numbers need to be at 90% to keep program in the black so no changes to schedule or format will be made at this time. Smith has reported that new semester classes seem very good.
4. AYES report -
Ron Olsen reports that Susan Moe, director at AYES has retired and AYES is now being run under the umbrella of NATEF/ASE. AYES are trimming staff at upper levels and have cancelled this year’s instructor’s conference in an effort to trim costs. Smith inquired about the possibility of internships at Pigantaro this summer, Pennington suggests it is quite possible as repair business is very good.
5. Wenatchee Trades and Industry Conference – Fender has approved Smith to travel to Wenatchee for the conference. Fender reports that several CTE instructors have been denied but as Smith will be attending several industry training programs that satisfy NATEF training requirements. Mike Plumb has agreed to sub for Smith.
6. Safety Inspection -
Fender requested we schedule a safety inspection to satisfy NATEF requirements. Group agreed to conduct an inspection next meeting.
7. Summer internships -
Smith reports that he will have 3 possibly 4 interns available for next year. Olsen suggested we arrange a hiring fair for the north area and involve all the dealers we can. We will combine this with Sno-Isle Skills Center.
8. Open to Floor-
Neill reported that a local school district estimates 16% of incoming high school students will go onto college and they seem to think that this is acceptable. We will continue to encourage kids to attend auto training programs.

Move to adjourn at 6:30 PM.
