· Rita Smith welcomed everyone and started the introductions. |
· Dan Flanagan raised the question about students being insured while they were working at a dealership. Pat McCue and Dave Robbins had a letter available to show Dan that stated that students were insured while working at the dealership. They said that the majority of dealers do not allow students to drive cars while they are completing their internship. |
· Peter Smith presented at the GM meeting on Auto-Yes. He shared with the audience that he has 16 Auto-yes students still working in industry. Peter talked about pursuing independent shops. Dan Flanagan suggested that Peter pursue independent shops that focus in ASA. |
· Ron Olson reported that the Auto-Yes is up and going. | ||
· He stated that there is a variance that allows students to be able to work around the hoists. A letter regarding the hoists can be sent out to dealers who have minor work permits. | ||
· On April 5, 2006 there is an Auto-Yes Mentor training at SeaTac Skills Center. |
· Dan Flanagan stated that he would be happy to promote Auto-Yes at the ASA state wide retreat in Leavenworth February 3 – 5 2006. Dan asked that if anyone had fliers on Auto-Yes to send them to him so that he could distribute them at the retreat. Peter Smith asked Dan if he could present on Auto-Yes at the retreat. Dan will send Rita Smith information on the retreat to distribute to the group. |
· Pat McCue showed everyone the distribution maps in the North-East Puget Sound area. The black pins represented internships in the area. The instructors are going to target new dealers for job shadows. |
· Michael Mills and Dave Holcomb reported that BMW has a high demand for technicians. They are very open to looking at Auto-Yes interns. They were very impressed with the students that they met at the Auto-Show. |
· Ron Olson would like to start an Auto-Yes newsletter. Please send Ron stories and pictures of students. He would also like to have an alumni corner. |
· Peter Smith suggested that we nominate one of our dealers for the Auto-Yes Dealership award. |
