Meeting called to order 5:00 PM

 

First agenda item review of two year plan 

Progress report by Smith

Smith reported on highlighted sections of two year plan and programs progress to date. These are:

Curriculum development line
· Competency list for NATEF in use by students, implementation of end-of-program testing (using AYES exit exam)


 

Marketing line
· Smith reports that he has developed pamphlet for other district counselors explaining the entry process and has developed a brochure. Smith has attended 3 middle school career fairs and attended curriculum night.


 

Career Component line
· Program is involved in AYES and hopes to place 2 interns this summer


 

Leadership
· Program had an active Skills USA club this year and participated in the SLCC skills competition


 

Pennington asked where this document will lead and curriculum development, Fender answered that plan is a guideline to direct and track program status/progress and will change over time. Curriculum development is ongoing and Fender has expectations that more effective and trackable learning will take place over time.

 

Smith reported that he is now using weekly diaries for accountability of time. Led group discussion about usefulness of this document and segue into using dealer repair orders.

 

Pennington and Fisher suggested daily log as a training tool re; industry requirements. Fender and Pennington suggested industry partners present to class to emphasize importants of documentation. Smith will coordinate.

 





Second Agenda Item Green Jobs in automotive

The program uses SP2 which has an extensive environmental component. Group agreed as a heavily regulated industry most of our day to day operation is green. Smith reported major environmental component of program framework.

 





Third agenda item program specific items

Fender reminded group of need for a Safety inspection by group. All members volunteered to conduct one at Smiths scheduling before schools end.

 

Neill inquired about requirement for NATEF year end evaluation. Smith will check into it.

 

Kiernan suggests AYES candidates practice interviews at Roy Robinson. Smith will coordinate with Kiernan to do this.

 

Smith will send suggested dates for year end BBQ and safety inspection.
