Review and comments on 2-year plan:

Committee approved two-year plan after discussion and clarification. Justin Best provided insight on opportunities for students to gain exposure and recognition for their photography. The Herald allows any one to submit photos through their on-line web site. These photos appear on line, but some are also selected to be printed in the paper on a weekly basis. Justin said that he looks for quality photos and tries to include as great a number of photographers as possible. He suggested that students submit frequently.

Additional discussion of how to add community members to our group for greater numbers and greater diversity in terms of representation from different media related employers. Justin Best noted that he has seen a trend where tech firms are hiring people with an emphasis on graphic design abilities as a preference over programming abilities. Suggestions for adding members also included asking for participation from local industry leaders like Microsoft, Boeing, and Adobe. Scott Shafer recommended combining our group with similar groups from local districts. Some of our community members responded positively with experiences they have had where school districts have combined their advisory committees.
