II. | Rose Smith opened the meeting at 3:40 p.m. and introductions were made. Kimi Shigetani was absent due to illness. |
III. | Rose reported that the teachers and staff are working on their course planning guides. In September the General Advisory Council will review course planning guides for auto maintenance, drafting, architecture, photography, video production, visual communications and A+ Cisco. |
IV. | The horticulture planning guide has been reviewed by the Horticulture Advisory Committee, but due to technical difficulties, was not available for General Advisory Council review. Rose will e-mail it for review and feedback. |
V. | The 2003 – 04 Advisory Kick-off was tentatively scheduled for October 23, 2003 from 5:00 –7:00. |
VI. | Rose asked for contact information for five teacher internship opportunities. John Smoots, Karen Traversie, Murray Reid and Larry Galli each submitted names. Automotive and graphic communications placements are still needed. |
VII. | Three students shared their experience in Career and Technical Education programs. Julie Morgan, a senior at Everett High School, has been in the Careers in Education program and has interned this semester at Hawthorne Elementary. Sinead Harris – Jones, a senior at Everett High School, shared about her involvement in DECA. Jason Messick, a senior at H.M. Jackson High and WAVE scholarship recipient, shared his work in video production. |
VIII. | The meeting adjourned at 4:30 and Sears Taylor lead a tour of Sequoia High School. |
