As we consider program expansion, where should we grow?

How should Everett Public School address the growth in manufacturing in the county?

What are other growth areas?

Who else should be at the table to help Everett Public Schools make these key decisions?

Program Expansion – Health and Human Services committee feedback

We asked: Last year, two long time teachers retired and despite hiring efforts no qualified teachers were found to replace them and foods classes are currently only offered at one high school. As we look at bringing this program back to Everett Public Schools, where should our program be focused: nutrition and wellness, culinary arts or other industry program need?

What they said: The program should be brought back, all students need to know and understand nutrition and buying and cooking food. Recommendation is to offer “Nutrition and Food Preparation” as a follow up course to Independent Living. Encourage participation in the culinary program at Sno Isle Tech for career exploration in the culinary arts.

Does this sound like the right way for Everett Public Schools to expand the FACSE program?

11:30  Adjourn
