    Attendance: Debbie Webber, Erin Galli, Debbie Campbell, Diane Kinch, Maryanne Erickson, Craig Langely, Laurie Youngquist, Suzanne Tiatingfong, Romana Menisili, Kathy Dostee, Corie Gudgeon, Diana Noble, Siobhan Ecker, Leslie Baker, Jeff Russell, Nancy Vanderberg, Lauren Hadley

    Diane Kinch introduced the GRADS program to Advisory
    · Program needs Advisory approval and input to continue and assist program
    · AC supportive, import lessons and activities
    · Diana Noble suggest that we discuss GRADS at all meetings (moved March 19 meeting to Sequoia HS)
    · Advisory approved GRADS program


     

    Program Overviews and updates:

    Craig Langley: Health- updated AC on new health curriculum and the health

    Schedule.

     

    Corie Gudgeon: Service class-Giving Tree, community services

    Child Development-“Baby think it Over”, developing new Curriculum

    Diane Kinch and Laurie Youngquist:Independent Living-

    (Housing, Eating, Financial, Careers)

    Laurie continued with Personal Choices: Overview of all FACSE classes (Foods, Interior design, human relations)
    · Suzanne from BECU volunteered to be a guest speaker about Financial Learning


     

     

    Need for a Culinary Arts class???

     

    Currently, the title is Nutrition and Wellness: Class is designed to teach basic nutrition and basic cooking receipt, skills, and strategies.

    Suggestions were made to change the title of the class (Nutrition and Wellness could be misleading)

     Cooking and Nutrition

     Foods and Nutrition

     Nutrition and Food Preparation (Most liked)

     

    AC said that Nutrition and wellness could be covered in health

    Culinary Arts suggest only a career in the field( Follow up with Kathy from Workforce)

    Debbie from the Everett Events Center mentioned bring in exposure to the topic (outside environment)

     

    Updates from the Industry

     

    Ramona (Snohomish County Low Income): asset building called Individual Development Accounts

     Provides higher education loans

     Home ownerships

    Government and grants will match with use of non-profit organization (i.e United Way)

     

    Jeff (Central Lutheran Church): Hiring process: students need to be able to interact, have positive communication skills, good interpersonal relations. Diana added students need interview skills and correct ways to fill out job application.

     

    Diana (United Way): Suggest Industry guest speaks on interview skills, applications, interpersonal relations.

    Kathy from Workforce (Volunteer to work with students on resumes)

     Inform students on No Pay Day Leading
