    December 14, 2009 – 6:30p.m.

     


     

    6:30  Welcome – Introduction. In attendance: Kirsten Harvey, Jaime Ablutz, Brenda Black

     
    6:40 Program specific discussion items:
     


    How are new government healthcare regulations affecting the healthcare workplace?

    -hasn’t seen it at the PT level YET

    -feels it will affect women’s health/preventative care most\

     

    What changes do you see coming?

    -possible drop in preventative care

    -limits in rehab coverage

    -“cookie cutter” treatment programs

     

    Do you feel this will adversely or positively affect the healthcare industry job opportunities?   

     -pay cuts are possible, but probably not unemployment.  

     

    7:00  Have you seen a change in any policies in your workplace due to the H1N1 virus?

    -fever means no work, as well as not being seen as a patient (patients seem to be more aware and are therefore calling in sick themselves)

     -providing masks

     -more hand sanitizer around

     
    7:05 How can CTE be used as a change agent in reshaping the American workforce?


     -teaching newer skills earlier

     -exposure at a younger age to fields, helps narrow down career options

     -experience to be used toward school/program applications

    -May 3rd, 6:30 pm at a restaurant to be chosen at the March meeting
