Basic Technical Skills, Practical experience (a level of computer literacy), General – broad-based educational experience, practical experience, small employers need a broader range of skills, larger companies look for more specialization. 

Basic Office Automation skills – ms office, connect to network, style sheets, headers/footers, footnoting, how to use “help” feature, simple networking – ping, trace route.

 

Entry level IT – Help desk – a little server side work. Web – but not necessarily programming. Content management, creativity – showing initiative, need to like to work through things, know when to ask questions, know how to ask questions, be willing to ask questions. Passion and excitement for a particular field, not just chasing money.

 

6:25  Management training
Basic project management – give students the opportunity to see how all parts work together. Understand they must work with others, that sometimes their work is dependant upon others.
