Web Design Class Standards – Where should we be?

We went through the existing Web Design Course Standards below is a summary of recommendations:

HTML 5 is being taught at Community Colleges in the fall and should be implemented fall 2012 at JHS

CSS3 needs to be incorporated into the CSS standards – in order to do this there is a need to upgrade our web browsers to ie9 because of conflicts with ie7.

Design of a webpage for a mobile app should be covered as a design standard.

The final project should incorporate the model of creating a ‘fictional business website’ where students are given the assets needed for the website and would not need to go out and find an actual business but would still have the option to do one for a business if they had a legitimate contact to work with.

      Action Items

      · Request upgrade of ie7 in jhs-c240, and other classrooms at EHS (B218) and CHS (420) where web design will be taught.
      · Need to explore software Light room.
      · Recruit new members
      · Email Corey electronic version
