ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES

In attendance: Tom Braaten, Bethany Ziegler, Carl Fender, John Barhanovich, Judy Karber, Jan Wise

 


 

 

 

Subject: Welcome

Discussion: John opened the meeting and welcomed the members. Lunch

was served.

 

 

Subject: Two Year Plan

Discussion: John gave an overview of Work Based Learning’s Two Year Plan. Judy discussed the Curriculum and State Assessment sections that Judy, John and Jan revised for the 2009-2010 plan. John advised the committee that we needed their suggestions/input for the Leadership and the Advisory Committee sections on the plan. After much discussion, student leadership qualities were addressed and suggestions for our Advisory committee (representation, duties,commitment, etc) were discussed.

John, Judy and Jan will revise the Leadership and Advisory Committee sections to meet the suggestions and advice that our Committee members provided. This revised two year plan will go to Carl and to our Chairperson for signature.

 

 

Subject: Green Jobs

Discussion: Tom Braaten provided the committee with information on the subject of green jobs. A web site is http://environment.bankofamerica.com

(HJAC equipment/software/architecture/engineering. Some of the projects that Bank of America invested in are Cavallo Point; former Ford Assembly plant in Richmond, CA and Field Diagnostics Services, that installed energy efficient clean technology equipment in more than half of the bank’s retail banking centers nationwide. Bank of America is developing financial products and services for our customers who consider the environmental impact of their purchasing decisions, and who want of offset or minimize their carbon footprint. Bank of America is also moving toward paperless online banking which is better for the environment. John thanked Tom for his research and for providing the committee with information on the Green trend.

 

 

Subject: Program specific discussion items

Discussion: Judy reported on her end of the year celebration with the GOAL students. John reported on WBL “summer school” opportunities for students that John and Jan will teach this summer.

 

 

Subject: Certificates

Discussion: John presented certificates to our Business committee members and thanked them for their continued support of the Work Based Learning program and Everett Public Schools. Carl also thanked the Business members for their support of our CTE program and students. He told the committee their valuable contribution helps make important decisions in the CTE programs and Work Based Learning.

Discussion: John adjourned the meeting at 1:03 p.m.

Fall Kickoff Meeting – Meeting notice and agenda will be sent in the Fall.
