Subject: Welcome
Discussion: John opened the meeting and welcomed the members. Lunch
was served.
Subject: ECOMONY – Student Job Status
Discussion: Janice, Rob and Bethany gave a report on the economy and
the impact it has had on their companies. John, Judy and Jan reported
on students’ status at the workplace and that many of the students
have had their hours cut. The committee was advised that the Volunteer
class has increased in numbers.
Subject: WASL TEST
Discussion: John talked with the committee regarding the WASL and
the changes that may occur. John distributed information regarding the WASL and the business members each commented on the pros/cons of
the WASL according to information they have received. Lauren talked about the history of the WASL and changes that may occur. More information
will be forthcoming.
Subject: TECH PREP
Discussion: Jan advised the committee that the Choices class that John, Judy and Jan teach, is now listed as a Tech Prep class. This means that
the students are eligible to receive 5 credits from the college after
completing the application process. This is an excellent opportunity
for our students.
Subject: OTHER ITEMS
Discussion: Judy advised the committee that the Area 1 Career Fair
will be held on Tuesday, March 24 at Warm Beach Conference Center.
Judges are needed for this event and our Business members said they will
look at schedules/ availability for this event.
Subject: Other agenda items
Discussion: Judy advised the committee that Janice Henning and
Bethany Zieger attended her G.O.A.L. program to be judges on December 8th for the “Job Interview” assignment with her students in her classroom.
Janice and Bethany discussed this event and said it was a great experience for students. Judy, John and Jan thanked the members for this important
support of our program.
