ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES

Location: Bank of America and JoAnn Fabrics
 
In attendance: Tom Braaten, Susan Miller, John Barhanovich, and Jan Wise

 

Judy Karber had student interviews


Subject: WBL Business Member Visits

Discussion: In a previous meeting, the Business members invited the WBL teachers to visit their worksites and to experience “The World of Work”. On April 26, John and Jan visited Tom Braaten at his office at Bank of America. We toured the facility and Tom described his goals and duties as Senior Commercial VP . We discussed opportunities for employment at the bank and how cutbacks have affected every position.

 

John and Jan visited JoAnn Fabrics and met with Susan Miller. Susan gave us a tour of her operations. Susan discussed the large inventory that Jo Ann Fabrics handles daily. Susan explained that the store hires out to an inventory source to handle annual inventory. Susan explained the scheduling system she uses for employees. Susan discussed the positions that Everett School District GOAL students fill at JoAnn Fabrics. JoAnn Fabrics has always been a great source of employment for Everett School District students.

 

John and Jan appreciated the chance to see the “The World of Work “

and be informed on employment opportunities for students.

 

This second Advisory meeting was adjourned at 12:30 PM

 

The next meeting date is scheduled for May 24, 2012 at 12PM at Sequoia.
