ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES

In attendance: Kathy Dotsie. Larry Galli, Carl Fender, John Barhanovich, and Jan Wise. Tom Braaten, Janice Henning and Judy Karber called in.


 

Subject: Welcome

Discussion: John opened the meeting and introduced the members

  

 

Subject:Two Year Plan

Discussion: Each year a two-year plan is drafted for each CTE pathway. The WBL teachers attended workshops to draft the WBL two-year plan.

Carl discussed the two-year plan process that each CTE teacher was involved in. John explained that the teachers are now presenting the draft to the Advisory committee for review and input. The six goal areas are as follows:

Curriculum Development

Program Marketing

Career Component

Leadership

Advisory Committee

Other

 

John and Jan presented each Goal area with input on Instructional Practices, People Involved, Schedule of Activities, Resources Needed, Evidence of Implementation and Evidence of Impact.

 

Kathy discussed the needs of Industry (Snohomish County Development Council) and agreed that the WBL two-year plan meets the Industry standards in the areas listed. Leadership was addressed and John and Jan advised the committee that Leadership is an “ongoing plan” that needs to be addressed each year with the intent of providing leadership opportunities through class and work experience.

 

Under Career Component, John advised the committee that the WBL framework (curriculum) will continue to be presented to the committee

for discussion, imput and coordination of Industry needs and standards.

 

John thanked the committee for their dedication to the WBL Advisory Committee and advised the members of the Fall Advisory Kickoff meeting scheduled for October 10, 2006 from 5 – 7PM at the Longfellow Annex.

 

John adjourned the meeting at 1:00 PM
