Each year the Career and Technical Education Department has written, submitted and managed the Carl D. Perkins grant for additional funding to help further develop the academic, career and technical skills of students enrolled in Everett Public Schools Career and Technical Education Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs. This year is the start of the reauthorization process for this grant. The last reauthorization was in 2006. The House Education and the Workforce Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education has scheduled a Perkins hearing for Friday, September 20, at 9:00 a.m. The hearing is titled, "Preparing Today's Students for Tomorrow's Jobs: A Discussion on Career and Technical Education and Training Programs."
