Review curriculum for Health Sciences Pathway

Carl gave the group information on program/career clusters, and discussed specifically the area of Health Science pathway. Other pathway areas will be discussed in future meetings. The pathway document was broken out into district course codes, program clusters, tech prep (college credit) and industry certificates that students can earn.

Student discussion on Health Sciences Pathway

Two students in Sports Medicine pathway and two students in Anatomy and Physiology pathway from Cascade High school spoke to the group on what these classes have meant to them, and how it has influenced them to look into certain medical fields. The students thought the actual hands on experiences held their interest and motivated them to take more courses in the Health Sciences pathways. They especially were interested in having actual speakers that work in the fields of interest come in to the classroom to talk with students.

Erin Acheson, Cascade High School Anatomy and Physiology instructor was also in attendance to support her students.

Reading Discussion “A Job after Graduation”

This article was tabled for our next meeting January 22, 2014 in the interest of time.

Part of the business plan includes defining network members from education (schools, colleges, subject matter experts etc.), business, and government who will participate and lead the network. The business plan will be completed by April 2014.
