In September, 2008, the Everett School District purchased approximately 30 acres of property (formerly known as Bear Creek Highlands LLC) inside the Urban Growth Boundary along 180th Street SE in the southeastern portion of the school district. This property purchase is intended to be used as a site for future school(s). Enrollment projections 15 to 20 years into the future indicate the need for up to three more elementary schools, and portions of a new middle school and high school to house students from future housing. Much of this growth is anticipated to occur in the undeveloped areas east of 35th Avenue SE and south of 156th Street SE.
        6. Lively Environmental Center Modernization and Sanitary Sewer

        8. The original scope of this project was to connect the buildings on this site to the public sanitary sewer system. Replacement of the existing buildings on the site were able to be added to the scope of this project due to the use of interest earnings from the bond funds and SCAP funds. A new four classroom building was constructed to replace four old, dilapidated portable classrooms. A new modular home was purchased and placed on the site to house the caretaker. A new force main sanitary sewer line was installed from the buildings on the Lively site to the high point in the Alderwood Water District sanitary sewer line in Seattle Hill Road.
        9. Everett High School Cafeteria and Commercial Buildings Seismic Upgrades

        11. Cafeteria Building - Seismic upgrade work for this project focused on improving connections between framing members and concrete walls and between steel and wood framing members. In many locations, additional bolts were installed to create redundancy. While the seismic upgrades were being constructed, two basement classrooms were reconfigured to yield three classrooms and to improve exiting and circulation routes.
        12. Commercial Building - This three-story concrete structure was strengthened by the addition of shear walls extending from the foundation up to the roof. All of the work was within the building and there were no exterior appearance changes.
        13. Everett Memorial Stadium Renovation of Restroom and Concession Buildings

        55. Energy upgrades to the Everett HS administration building included installation of lighting controls and the addition of a mechanical room to house two new energy efficient boilers. These upgrades greatly improved the responsiveness and energy efficiency of the school's heating system.

In addition, $260,000 of the costs for this project were covered by mitigation/impact fees.

         

        Whittier Elementary School Modernization

        This project provided a partial modernization of the existing school, originally built in 1949, along with the 1954 addition.         Everett High School Little Theater Modernization

        The original scope of this project was able to be substantially increased from a seismic and HVAC upgrade to a full modernization and historical renovation of the building – to better meet the needs of the students and the educational program – through the use of interest earnings from the bond funds and SCAP funds. This modernization included a complete renovation of the building, including seismic upgrades, a new roof, replacement of the heating, ventilation, electrical and plumbing systems, as well as IT upgrades. The ramp connecting the lower level to the exterior was relocated from the west side of the building to the south side of the building, which increased visibility and security. The basement level holds three new classrooms, a teacher planning area, and restrooms. The theater space, with seating for approximately 150 persons, is located on the main floor. A new classroom was included on the main floor. A third floor balcony at the south end of the structure houses an orchestra seating area and control booth. At the north end of the structure, new mechanical mezzanine houses the heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.

         

        Garfield Elementary School Modernization

        This project provided a full modernization of the existing school originally built in 1946 with additional space that was added in 1969. The original size of the building area of this project was able to be substantially increased to provide more breakout instructional spaces – to better meet the needs of the students and the educational program through the use of interest earnings from the bond funds and SCAP funds.   The facility has a capacity of 593 students. This project also included a new public through street connecting 156th Street SE with Silver Firs Drive SE, between Gateway MS and Forest View ES. $3,821,746 of the costs for this project were covered by mitigation/impact fees, and $122,910 were covered by SCAP funds.

         

         

        North Middle School Auxiliary Gym Addition
