  • While awaiting her trial, Anthony traveled across the country speaking out against the way women were viewed and treated in American society.
  • In fact, little in her life had ever discouraged this determined woman.
  • At an antislavery meeting in 1851, she met a woman who became a life-long friend and political partner-Elizabeth Cady Stanton.
  • The new group wanted to gain the vote on a state-by-state basis.
