To compete, students chose two very different poems from the Poetry Out Loud Anthology online.
The judges evaluated each
student’s physical presence, voice and articulation and dramatic appropriateness.
Emily Olson won first place on Jan.
15
and will represent Everett High School at the Poetry Out Loud Regional Finals on Jan. Winners from the Burlington event can advance to state and national competitions andultimately have a chance at the $20,000 grand prize for the national winner.
