- WHEREAS, Washington's funding for education is already 44th in the nation, despite being identified as our "paramount duty"
in the state constitution; and
WHEREAS, the Washington State Legislature reduced 2009-2010 funding for K-12 public students by $1.5 billion and used
$500 million in federal stimulus dollars to avoid even deeper cuts; and
WHEREAS, most districts experienced the biggest cuts they had seen in 30 years; and
WHEREAS, these budget reductions are having profound impacts on the quality of life for Washington citizens on a dai Iy
basis and significant funding cutbacks have already been made to K...
