In fall 2009 the superintendent assembled a task force on diversity. This task force presented recommendations in spring 2010. One of these recommendations included developing an ongoing council. During the winter of 2010 a description was developed for the council and council members were recruited. Council members include community members, parents, staff, students and several members from the superintendent's diversity task force. The council began its work in the winter of 2010. The council has presented drafts of its goals and work plan to the cabinet and the superintendent's leadership team to obtain input and recommendations.
